A $32 million heist at Melbourne's Crown casino has not been reported to police, with the gaming venue believing it can recover most of the cash.

The Herald Sun reported on Friday that thieves infiltrated the casino's surveillance system, allowing a foreign high-roller to pull off what is believed to be Crown's biggest fraud since it opened 19 years ago.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the robbery had not been officially reported to police but officers were aware of the matter.

Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill was tight-lipped about the scam, saying he had been on the phone to journalists since almost daybreak.

"I've been saying the same thing, I know it's not terribly helpful to anybody, but I'm not really in a position to make any further statements and we are not putting out any statements today," Mr O'Neill said.

He said he wouldn't "quibble" with the accuracy of comments attributed to Crown in the Herald Sun article, which stated that the casino believed it was in a good position to recover a "significant portion of the amount involved in the scam".

Since this story a Crown Casino Employee has been fired and the "perpetrator" has flown back to his home country after being kicked from the Casino in the middle of the night.

Now that, my friends, is a job well done.

Speaking of the Oceans movies, I love them, have seen them numerous times, though the last one to come out I cannot seem to watch the whole way through, no matter what time of day, no matter how much coffee, I always, always, fall asleep half way through the last one.
