potato lol. I haven't followed the whole tax vs mandate. I know the ACA was signed into "law," and I know there have been a lot of arguments on the semantics/constitutionality. I don't know what my position is on the ACA. I just think it's ironic that there people donating on that link who are talking about how tough times are for them and how they can only afford $5.00, and she has a 1/2 million in the bank. I'm sure $400k at her age will still go a long way. I know plenty of people who legitimately can't afford insurance or their medical bills. If she had any conscience, she would pay her own bills, and take that $100k and give it to battered women who really need it.

My insurance is in some kinda limbo. I don't know whats going on with it. Apparently I have it but I can't get a bill or any paperwork. Foking farce is intended to bury people in paperwork and fees not to provide medicine.

Not that what we had before wasn't a complete disgrace.

I'm sure she didn't, but wouldn't you think she would be smart enough to have a manager/attorney/someone who handles that stuff for her? Call me crazy, but even taking out the ACA, isn't it just a good idea to have health insurance if you can afford it?

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic. I guess the truth is I'm not feeling terribly sympathetic. It's a terrible thing that happened to her..but the financial thing..I just don't get it.

You are right about it being a great study. It will be interesting to see how she fares against some of the well publicized victims of other crimes/tragedies for who funds have been set up.
