so, I saw this last week, and after watching I didn't want to eat meat b/c the cows are so cute. Which got me thinking that in a way, they're not totally helping themselves from an advertising standpoint b/c it's making me not want to hurt those animals. Now, on the flip side, their commitment to local fresh sustainable food is admirable in the fast food scene. I could dive deeper in to the marketing aspects (professional opinion) but instead I'm going to go try to save a baby cow from becoming veal.

i had dinner with a friend/mentor who is a very high-up ad exec (managing huge global accounts) and we talked about this ad campaign. We agreed that they're really putting themselves out there to be under scrutiny - can we believe that the fast food burrito place owned by McDonalds corporation really uses all natural free range and organic foods? If you position yourself in the media, in the day and age, in a certain way, you better be able to back it up. And at the end of the day you're still eating a 2,000 calorie fast food burrito the size of your head, which albite being delicious, is FAR from healthy.

My uncle has a farm that is organic and "humane meat" certified, free range chickens, the whole shebang, but some animal rights groups still dont like it because the animals are still killed but so much of industrial farming is just filthy. Food borne illnesses, especially in Asia , will be a massive issue in the coming years. These corporations are pretty smart to think about this with the dirtiness of industrial farming . Cutting down on red meat or something like cigarettes isnt really that hard, I just wish more decent priced restaurants had vegetables or places like subway or chipotle and healthy menus . I live off cafeterias and southern places with alot of vegetables or asian restaurants.

One major concern I have is fish. overfishing ? Alot of tuna populations are decimated, especially blue tuna. I could cut out red meat pretty easily from my diet but but I love fish, I eat salmon almost every day, love sushi and love fishing. My stomach is an aquarium. :ouch:

thats nice looking lox, but I still don't understand who is supposed to be watching a three minute ambiguous cartoon commercial.

If they signed some contracts with some farmers than why not say that. What are we children?

I agree with this, pretty impressed with the animation but it isnt realistic about what I eat and industrial farming. good doc on chemicals, ecoli, food production and factory farms

I don't think the masses will ever buy into sustainable eating. Knowingly, that is. It's hard to imagine the price of pork not going through the roof over the course of the next 20 years given how much China loves pork, and how much the Chinese middle class is growing. There will be a certain point at which people will eat meat less often because it will be unaffordable to do otherwise.
