The reaction in Quebec is really funny. Most people are insulted, but then they comment that employers should raise their staff's wages so waiters wouldn't rely so heavily on tips to make a decent living, thereby confirming the story's point. :biglaugh:

There is a culture of $2-is-a-good-enough-tip-for-any-bill-amount in Quebec.

I am an excellent tipper. Waiters/barmans have shitty fucking jobs and I like being able to reward good service.

Excellent Matty! I knew that isn't you! Were you always that way or did a change occur after moving to Toronto? :dunno:

I'm sure I tipped $2 on a $50 bill once. All Frenchies are, at best, a couple generations away from being minimum-wage laborers/factory workers. Average wage in QC is pretty low, so in poorer areas there is little to no sympathy for people who bust their ass in the food service industry.

So I can see why FC's tip very low! I think Vermont sees it the same way and understands the situation, but what they are politely saying is, when you come to America try to not offend out customs we use! If not, please do not cross the border!

Plus I'm thinking the people who have money (not the poor) are the group that can afford to travel so they should be able to leave a sufficient tip, eh! You ain't in Quebec anymore! Matty, once again those pics were awesome and glad you had a great time!

Yeah, Quebecers who travel to Vermont do so cause it's within easy/cheap driving distance. I would indeed expect these people - someone like my Mom - to be horrible tippers.

(Love you Mom. S'just.)

Thank you MrM. Had a blast. Wanna go back to Poland and have a fling with a hot/humble Polish hottie. S'a shame the GF isn't into girls at all.

I just typed all that out loud, didn't I.

:moped:

Those that have, are typically the most frugal.
