closed at 2-1, which I thought was a great price considering the small field.

I like betting (lightly raced) 4 yr olds vs 3 yr old maidens as they have an age advantage early in the season.

Big name trainer and hoss was a $300k purchase. First start got left in the gate and was a write off.

Smoked this horse out last night and couldn't wait to bet.

$50 to win plus a $1 pick 4. Now I just gotta NOT donk it off at Tronner Park!

I've only played the ponies a combined like 20-25 times in my life but that is the biggest fave i've ever seen.

Yeah I’ve seen 1/9 shots before. Not sure if the horse will go off at 1/9. I tend not to bet races with huge chalk in the race.

Not a waste for the horse owner. Purse money is still purse money.
 
This is how 173 was born.

Was in my 20's, going to Monmouth Park NJ with an older degen, Rob (who ended up rolling me for some dough, hope he's dead now). Drunk, losing, sick of the whole scene and decided fuck it, I'll play whatever. Looked up at evening simulcasting of Sam Houston Race Track and decided "1, 7 3 - because that would make no sense whatsoever".

And it hit, for $5k. A crappy Geo Metro, a bunch of booze and some questionable decisions later, here we are.

Oh, and the license plate that was randomly printed out for that little Geo

"UR173M".

True story.
