This may have been discussed somewhere in the myriad of prescription drug threads, but I don't remember. I have been taking ambien for about 8 years now? I have gone 3 nights without but am having headaches which may or may not be related.

Anyone take long term and then quit cold turkey?

I take the generic about once a week.

I would imagine that taking Ambien every night could be problematic.

I'm surprised you haven't built up a resistance.

Have you tried yoga? Yoga will exhaust you and make you sleep like a baby.

I can give you some tips on where to start if you'd like.

The only drug I take is alcohol. It cures all my ailments. From stress, to insomnia, to depression, to everything. 90% of people would cure their symptoms by drinking moderately instead of taking prescription drugs. My grandpa used to have a drink with breakfast, a drink with lunch and a drink with dinner and he lived in his 90's. Never took drugs.

I do believe this happens with lots of mind drugs! I would just off the top of my head suggest maybe take a tylenol or two for a couple days till your mind adjusts to not having the ambien!
You are right. The pharmacy just called and said they had filled my script. I think I will pick it up but save for emergencies.

I take Zolpidiem (the generic) I was creased from .5 to .10 mg a while back. I wonder how much it has really been doing for me. I started walking 5-6 miles 4x a week 2 weeks ago and have been sleeping pretty well.

Everyone tells me to do yoga..there must be something to it. My sister in laws do it faithfully... I don't know why I always think I'm too tall for yoga..ha...I'm sure it would be beneficial but I would need to REALLY ease into it. I have never been super limber either... I suppose that is why one starts yoga.

Alcohol is a depressant no? I could say the same about opiates as cure for insomnia and depression. My mom is 88 and still kicking (other than the AD) and she never drank more than maybe a glass of wine on special occasions. What did your grandfather drink? I suppose if you just had the one drink 3x a week, especially wine, it has some health benefits.

Why not start a yoga thread. I'm serious. I did some pm meditation in the past and also have a.m. and p.m. yoga discs, but never used them. Also have the a.m. meditation. The p.m. meditation was pretty good stuff, but it involved stretching which was pretty useful.

Grandpa had homemade moonshine for breakfast and lunch and homemade wine for dinner. He made both himself.
