This is too important for Random thoughts. This may change lives.

It pertains to when you tie the laces on your shoes.

I see many young people today tie there shoes in a bow with just one knot. This method is incorrect.

Once your shoes have been tied it is important to take each end of the "bow" and tie it into an additional knot so as not to come undone.

See example below:

I find this tip much more controversial than my coffee lid tip.

It is harder to undo your laces when you double knot them like that. I would think the extra time taken to tie the extra knot + additional untying time would work out to way more than time lost due to single-knotted laces coming undone once in awhile. Seems -ev to me.

Although there are several wildcards.
 
who the fuck wears shoes? besides wasting money on coffee, you will never catch me wearing shoes...they are for pussies...

i cant remember the name of the show, i think its Dual Survival....and the guy on there says he hasnt worn actual shoes in over 20 years or some shit...crazy nature fuck... he says the best things he has for his feet, he made out of a car tire

The trick is to make the 2nd knot somewhat loose. It might come undone but then you have that tight first knot to fall back on, plus it takes a split second to undo.

Double knot is a recommended best practice at Matty Rain Enterprises.
 
I can't remember the last time one of my single knots came undone on my sneakers. I must be a good single knot tieer (tier?) When involved in athletic activity double knots are a must, but for day-to-day activity single knots are sufficient. Now for my chil-rens, I recommend double knots 9 times out of 10. Let's be more careful with the advice we give out plomstein. It is dangerous to give out blanket advice that might mislead others to thinking that a double knot is optimal procedure for all people for all occassions.

I have two distinct shoelace situations. I have my runners which I wear very loosely so I basically tie them once and just slip them on and off forever. A quick check reveals that they are just in a single knot. I suppose I could upgrade to a double knot - although the one shoe doesn't look to have a lot of bow to spare.

My work shoes however I wear tighter and tie and untie every time. I will have to make a call on how I want to tie those.

I've got a lot to think about here.
