Reno,

I LOVE using fresh ingredients and taking the term Mixology to heart.

The thing is, when I get slammed, Its extremely time consuming to muddle and zest and rim.

The coolest place I worked at was a martini bar on 37th street 15 years ago. It wasn't crazy busy and I had the chance to put real effort in my cocktails. The high tips made up for the volume.

I agree, a lot of bartenders get burned out and don't give a rats ass how they make your drink.

To avoid burn out, moving from one place to another every 2 years keeps things fresh.

I hate flavored vodka and artificial sweeteners.

Can't you fuckers make something that doesn't ooze artificial flavor?

vodka and iced tea doesn't sound too bad.

Casper do you think majority of bartenders take pride in making a quality drink? I often get the feeling they have no concept what the fuck they are doing.

I think good bartenders take pride.

I was thinking about buying some crystal light or MIO as well. Not sure if that shit would bring on a hangover with artificial sweeteners. Vodka and reg cranberry work for me, but it makes me fat.

I personally haven't had a problem with it.
I tend to avoid hangovers by eating something right before bed, and having a big glass of water. This seems to help every time.

You can also make your own flavored water by adding fresh berries, or lemon slices and letting it sit for a day or two, kind of like sun tea.

I was always under the impression that artificial sweeteners or diet sodas, juice etc. play a bog role in bringing on hangovers.

Any thoughts on this? Anybody??

Good Lord Pucky. Man up and get Jger or top shelf tequila.

The reason I now drink vodka and cranberry is because it works for me. I was getting VICIOUS hangovers drinking beer and rum. I tried vodka and felt great. I rarely get hangovers drinking vodka and cranberry. I also typically drink regular SKYY vodka. Absolute is also ok with me. I have a bottle of Ketel One at home that I might rip into this weekend. I find Grey Goose overrated, but have never drank any vodka on the rocks. I have heard that Grey Goose is really nice on the rocks, but with cranberry I like SKYY because again it works for me so I trust it. My hangovers are brutal. More a depressing and massive headache feeling.

I've tried everything to prevent hangovers and nothing worked. I even drank pedialyte for children and it didn't work.

you may have something there Pucky. I've had to layoff the whiskey cokes.

Also agree with your vodka assessment. Anything triple distilled is good imo Smirnoff  Kettle One  Kinda went away from my classic Stoli.

Was into vodka-redbull for a while. Makes you feel great for like half hour

ok, here is a strange one I have heard of, that works for males. Midole. Yes, the shit women take for their monthly visitor...I hear it works wonders. I've used it myself for hangovers and it helps.

I'm out of ideas Pucky. I just know what works for me, eating before bed the night of drinking, and lots of water through out the evening and right before bed. In the morning I take some midole and a red beer or two. That has always worked wonders for me. Maybe you just aren't getting enough sleep on the nights you drink? I know if I don't get 8+ hours of sleep after a night of heavy drinking, I feel like shit the next day.

You could always try something that has no sweeteners, and add a bit of simply syrup, that has roughly 52 calories per tablespoon.

Pretty much rule of thumb in our household is a glass or water with each drink. Keeps you better hydrated.

According to SKYY website, their vodka is quadruple distilled and goes through a triple filtration process as well as a proprietary reverse- osmosis-process........whatever all this shit means.

means its focking smooth

Interesting. I've never once drank vodka on the rocks. I might have to try it on the weekend while BBQ'ing. I have a 40 oz of Ketel One that I haven't cracked yet. I might pick up another bottle of SKYY because as I've said I trust it and want to have a nice extra long weekend. I've read some nice things about Ketel One. No hangover was often mentioned.
