tyou think its ok to say "thats so retarded" or thats "so gay" then what you are literally saying is "that is homosexual" or "that is reminiscent of side effect of mental illness." it's simply an uneducated way of speaking that feeds negative stereotypes. there are always better descriptions. a man is wearing a salmon color top you say "gee ron that top is a bit flamboyant" even that isnt good, but its a lot better than saying gay. i mean honestly, ron can wear whatever damn shirt he wants he didnt ask you for your bigot opinion anyway... as an example.

I completely agree with you that the casual use of 'gay' as a general derogatory term is damaging, but you completely lost me on why it's bad to say that a shirt is a bit flamboyant.
