I never lived in the USA, just visited hundreds of times. Spent months at a time in Bradenton Florida through the 1990's.

My younger brother lived in the US for 12 years and I detected a subtle American accent listening to him speak.


I'm good with accents, no way could I mistake an Aussie for a South African. Sometimes I mix up Kiwis and Aussies so if I'm not sure I gues Kiwi first because Aussies don't get offended being called a kiwi but kiwis are offended at being called Aussies.

The same way Canadians hate to be thought as Americans when travelling abroad.
