Chris Chelios - as big a no-brainer as there can be

Brendan Shanahan - ditto

Scott Neidermayer - possibly even more ditto than the others

Fred Shero - I don't get this one so much. True, he did win a couple cups and that's strong, but his body of work is small to go in with the all-time best. I would not have voted for him but then I am always a much tougher voter than the traditionally soft touches at the HHOF. Why now though? :dunno:

Geraldine Heaney - Nothing against her personally but I disagree with the induction of any women. They do not come close to meeting an equal standard to the men. Let them have their own Hall of Fame. The men are competing with a tough worldwide field. There have only ever been 2 countries competitive in womens. I just consider it a completely different thing that should not be treated equally. Unless countries start getting more interested, it has no business being in the Olympics either. I'm glad to have the guaranteed medal every time but in principle, no.

Chelios was way overrated. He deserves to be in but not this fast. He should have been made to wait a 3-5 more years at least.

I almost done with the HHOF really. Mats Sundin a first ballot HHOF'er over Shanny last year? Seriously?!?!?!? Come on man.

If Cam Neely is in the HHOF then Lindros should be a lock.

Housley being passed over by Chelios is a perfect example of why I am almost done with the HHOF.

Housely's stats - http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=2374

Chelios' stats - http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=946

See what I mean. It's the HHOF not the Stanley Cup HOF.

Also, and I know Reno will agree with me here, Tikhonov should have been inducted LONG ago. Siberian threats and all!!!

I'm also with Muddy on no females in the HHOF. Give me a fucking break.

Housley's obvious problem is he was a defenceman that was a bad defender. It was constantly discussed all through his career. The suggestion that he should be converted to forward was a never ending (very valid) noise.

He was like the anti-Chelios. In his prime, Chelios was always in the muck and just a big pointy difficult presence in his defensive zone. He made life very fucking unpleasant for attackers. That's what I like in a defenceman and that's what I believe contributes most to championships. Housley? I always saw him as more of a ballerina.

No way I would vote for Housley. I never saw him as a difference maker. There was never a time I would have been discussing the question of who would be the one defenceman I would want to build a franchise around?, when Housley would have been in the top 20. He was always just this lightweight thing flitting around. To be HHOF for me, he should be like top 5 for 10 straight years.

To bad they didn't make him a forward. His offensive numbers are good enough and you could disregard his poor plus/minus saying maybe he was on teams with weak defence. But when you are the defence . . . :nono:

Fun fact - Bobby Orr got in at 31 years old.

Robert Orr was a fukkin beast.

Another example of the Leafs missing the boat.

Nobody had heard of Orr until some Boston scouts saw him at some kids tournament.
Kid was in the Leafs backyard the whole time.

It really would have been sweet to have had one of the great players from Ontario start with the Leafs.

I can only imagine what it would have been like with Orr or Gretzky signing with the Leafs as rookies.

Paul Coffey was a defensive liability his whole career and he's in the HHOF.
