FF has come to the conclusion that lifting big weights only helps his ego and it's time to think more long term. I need to focus on flexibility because lifting 300lbs doesn't help much when you get older and older. Do you guys have any experience with this or preferences? Am I in the wrong forum all together to pretend that I'm healthy?

Same shit but you'll sweat your balls off in Bikram.

Bikram's good if you need to ditch water weight, are chubby or whatever.

Same concepts though - it's just done in a heated environment.

And yeah, I do yoga several times a week. Both types.

Do you know the positive reasons for doing it in heated environments? If anything I should be having more water daily so I'm not sure I wanna fight against that battle.

There really aren't any. If you google it you get shit about injury prevention and it makes you less stressful but Bikram studios are also getting sued because people are dropping like flies because they're dehydrated and messing up their joints and muscles and it's seriously f'ng them up.

If you've never done yoga before, just start with the normal stuff. Bikram is faddy. Like Kabbalah. I like it because I'm a heat baby. I have no weight to lose and when it gets a bit full on, I step back. I purely do it for the warmth because I like doing yoga in a sports bra and lulu lemon shorts and it keeps me toasty. No other reason. And unless it's totally different than from here, you'll save cash just by starting with normal yoga.

Seriously I do a lot and have for a long time. I'm flexi, in shape, lean, etc and I'd never recommend anyone do Bikram unless you like - and can sustain heat. And feel the need to try to drop a lot of pounds for a wedding or something. I love saunas and hot tubs cranked to the max. Most don't. That's the only difference between the two. It's not safe or healthy for most people.

Oh - and I should say: If you choose to do it, you obv won't die. But it's a killer. Start off with a few normal yoga sessions to get the basics down and then decide if you want to try to contort your body into those in 110 degrees.

Either way, yoga is awesome. It's not as hippie/incense as it used to be. It's lengthened me out and made me really tight in certain parts. It's also helped some friends lose a SHITLOAD of weight. But you def need to be careful with Bikram. I don't really care about the peaceful part...

Actualy Freefall: Look into Pilates. I bet you 110% that'll suit you better. Seriously.

OMFG - FF: PILATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll even recommend you places my 4SQ friends go to for discounts... cheap for the industry although I'm sure fb has them also.

That's what you need.

It'll stretch, tone and increase your flexi without the chanting bs. These classes are like 50/50 men women. No bs.

chanting bs? I would prefer if I could see some cute girls when I goto these aswell. It'd be a nice perk to attending class as I'm sure it's why some other people go.

Go Pilates. Seriously.

I'm sure your place of work has some hookups. That's what you need. The chicks will be much hotter too. Or at least more normal sized.

Seriously, Bikram is messed. I love it but Roguey can vouch for me - I am scrawn city. It's not pretty and I really don't do it to lose weight. Pilates is about stretching, flexi, core strength, etc but not about being that stupid lean shit that I've somehow ended up with.

Pilates. 100%. Girls will be way hotter.

FF, I would look into swimming.

I have actually emailed the local HS if I can use their pool at 5am before school, but I doubt this will go over well.

I'm currently waitlisted at the local pools around here aswell. You are right though I need to transition out running and shift towards swimming.

I'm pretty sure Cali is a yoga girl too so I'm sure she can give some advice soon too. Although if she advocates Bikram, I'll kick her ass.

Thanks osky for the good advice. I'm pretty fucked in the head, but I'll start with yoga/pilates first to help open up my flexibility. If I get really into it I might move to bikram. I appreciate your input! :goodforyou:
