Who cares what they say in the locker room? When I was playing soccer in college we treated every game like we were going into war with the opposing team. This was our pregame ritual. For the 90 min that we were in the field we hated the other team and did our best to mentally and physically destroy them during the game.

I was kinda thinking the same FW but didn't hear Payton in the background but we probably can surmise he was there! :dunno:

We know that wasn't the first time, we can assume it was an every week occurance. I can't believe Payton didn't know. He hired him and he has some serious explaining to do. Word gets around the league and Williams did this in Buffalo and Wash, don't know about Tenn. what makes this look even worse is Brees being on the competition committee. Wonder how Brees likes being targeted? He will be one.

I guess it's just bad timing for Williams and NFL wanting to show the image of safety being their top priority! Guy will be the fallguy for the entire league!

Yes MCB, why was the story leaked? Ironic it comes out when the NFL is supposed to discipline the players from the Saints I think! Does the league really want to suspend the entire defensive unit of the Saints and make them look like an expansion team at the beginning of the 2012 season? Goodall probably can't argue with Williams it is a production out there!

So do the players say in their own defense now, we would lose our jobs if we don't do what our boss tells us to do? Don't know the specifics of the situation but this guy is all business! Show him the money! They all are!

Mental and physical intimidation will be a part of the game. Did your coach ever tell you to sweep a leg, step on a player or go for the head? That is not playing physical, that's playing dirty.

If they do that they are suspended and fined. Every play is reviewed by the league. How many players were suspended or fined in that game? Saying to do it is one thing, actually doing it is another. It's a mentality.

I meant Pavy and his soccer coach.

I understand the mentality but the league cant have coaches paying for bounties either. They need to take a serious look at the helmets. I think they should go to a soft shell (like a wrestling mat material), that discourages players leading with helmets. Another thing the league cannot patrol is what happens in pile-ups. You sure dont want players taking shots at each other after the whistle, Williams was teaching this.

We had some of this in volleyball in New Jersey back in the day. We would call it the "sub plot to the main plot". I remember there was this one dude my friend Dan hit right in the face with a spike in gym class. The kid's glasses blew up and he was all bloody. The other Dan almost killed his sister with a ball. I remember in practice after I found out my high school sweetheart cheated on me I just kept asking for the ball in practice and unloading on her and watching her duck in fear. No bounties but yes some very dangerous volleyball action for the wrong reasons so yes I can relate he should be able to coach again the sooner the better.
