gotta think Ovechkin will outlast Crosby, just due to head injury shit.

but barring injury, when would you expect these guys to hang it up?

Any chance Ovechkin scores goal # 895 and walks away after that season?

I say Crosby retires at age 39. Ovie at 42 and he doesn't beat Gretzky. 🤝

not in total points, but he'll beat him in goals scored, right?

Goals. He obviously was never going to come close to Gretzky's point total.

I think his production will drop off dramatically within a few years. He only scores goals one way, so as soon as his shot loses some of its pop, it's game over.

Fine, he MOSTLY scores goals one way.

Isnt there only one way to score goals.

puck in net.
He could have his lawyers challenge Gretzkys records in court, fake news, you know. OR just declare himself the winner via twitter. There are people that will believe him.

Not only will his production drop off he will depend more on his linemates. If he's on a shitty team he will struggle.

All depends on how many pandemics and lockdowns they plan on having.

didn't know he was that close.
Just six more 32-goal seasons! He's going to get close for sure, but right now he still needs a lot of things to go right, including a new CBA by the start of the 2026/27 season if he's still chasing the record by then.

Tully makes a good point too, he could conceivably end up in the KHL if his NHL output drops too much.
