So I got a question about the search function

Looking for a post. I go to Advanced Search and enter a word I know is in it - and probably not many others - the results come back showing the Random thoughts thread.

So I guess that is saying I made the post I am looking for in the Random thoughts thread. Not the biggest surprise I ever had.

So now what? If I want the post I have to search through the entire thread? Will the search function somehow show me right where it is?

Or what?

I know it does highlight the specific word you searched for but other than that I've never found it to break it down better than that.

google seems to work better than the default forum search.

When doing a google search preface the search with gamelive.com:

what is the word?

if you know more words that were included in the thread add them to the search, it will narrow the results

word+word2+word3 etc.

The post was about losing some beloved nail clippers so I was trying different combos of lost + nail + clippers - but not getting anywhere but suddenly I had an epiphany. I thought that, knowing, me, I probably said something like, "You don't know what you got till it's gone."



That cracked it.

I sometimes have idle thoughts about reading it start to finish - not in one sitting of course but over time like reading a book - but I haven't yet - and of course the longer I wait, the more of a thing it becomes.
