New hood: Hoofddorp

-Cyclist dream city, Tron and Matty would love it

-Every single road has a companion cycling road, every single one

-Cyclists have priority, then pedestrians, then cars, in that order

-Food prices are low

-In the suburbs bikes are left unlock

-Plenty of Casinos

-Everybody speaks English

-Service jobs are not just immigrants or high school kids, service is actually good, friendly

-Brown brown friendly, brown browns everywhere specially from the Caribs

-No masks wearing by anyone, pandemic finished here

when all the road users in 2 ton vehicles stop texting and driving, rolling through stop signs, and speeding. we can start to focus on the oh so dangerous 25 lb ten speeds.

With the mild weather here,people often ride year round.Last couple of years ,Victoria has removed multiple vehicle lanes and replaced them with dedicated bike lanes including their own traffic lights.
Been accident free for the last 25 years and I use to drive a lot when I was working,my last few close calls were cyclist not obeying traffic signals.

I am helping Ukrainians settle in the suburbs of Amsterdam, economically and logistically is not easy for many to do it, either because they don't know how things are done in other countries or because financially they don't have the means specially after having to escape with their lives in only a single luggage

I have committed myself to help as many as I can financially as a personal matter, via contacts I am meeting them, explaining everything and arranging transportation and stay, right now I am primarily airbnbing, many of the airbnb hosts have been receptive some have declined

I myself have to learn this country but it's really not that different than how things are in done the States, like through the Rode Kruis red cross nl I arranged for them to able to visit a primary physician free as well as medicine, well not really arranged myself, things were already there just mainly orientating to how shit is done

why Amsterdam because the Netherlands will not be overrun with refugees like Eastern and Central Europe, those countries would have been better ethnically and language wise but now and for a long time they will be flooded, NL already announced they will not take in refugees they will help with EU money but there will be no influx of people

why do it because I've always been an immigrant, I know it's shit when needing to move not because you want to, to be uprooted is terrible, this is is something I wanted to do in Turkey with Syrians but I always lazy/chicken about it, when this shit started I figured I could gl meme the hell about it and shit post all day or try to do something, how long can I do it I don't know, till I go broke basically, I will not go to that extreme but I figure until some type of EU help starts kicking in, some months I figure

not for youtube views, notoriety or praise, just something I wanted to do, without some old contacts I had in NL and some UA contacts I would not have been able to, I know in the grand scheme of things and the war and the amount of people its nothing but if I help a few families I think it's good, lets see where it ends

Right now just a tourist visa, I'll figure something out later
