WTF is up with this new pop-up add? It has no close option and it doesn't open into a new window so you can close it that way either and the fok'n thing is annoying.

RJ, if we need to pay dues to keep this place open and add free just say something.

That virus thing again. I swear if I ever go 4 months without getting a virus I would be amazed. This home laptop has one and the office laptop has a completely different one but the one thing in common with both is I got them right after downloading SBR Poker software.

happens to me too, wal...i figured it was a chrome/vbul thing though :dunno:

I caught a virus once that kept popping up some spyware ad/warning every few seconds. I went deep into the bowels of the computer and erased something which got that to stop. However now I cannot open any program by clicking on it. I have to right click and go to start. Many programs I have to find the actual application because no shortcuts will work. :dunno:

Wally that's what happens when you frequently visit those eastern european porn sites. Slow it down big guy!

You must have done something to your registry, Reno.

Try restoring .lnk file associations. Extract the .reg in this zip and double click it to import it into your registry.

Wal perform a system restore back to when your system was last working properly, then go into msconfig and run only microsoft programs.

Most antivirus software is a virus.

OH and Roguey, HOW ARE YOU, by the way?

Wal perform a system restore back to when your system was last working properly, then go into msconfig and run only microsoft programs.

Most antivirus software is a virus.

That assumes that he has a recent restore point.

He could just remove the malware. That seems a bit more logical.

First thanks MonkeyFocker for the links.

Secondly, I find it rather presumptuous that you thought I would also need a How To For Dummies link in addition.

Thirdly. actually I do so thanks again.

Arch, that was witty and astutely accurate.
Potato, it's been a while since I had a clean restore, actually back when GameLive caught that virus that infected many of us.

Microsoft has a pretty good fixall tool as well...you'd have to ask steves about it though...he's the one who linked me to it.

you should backup every couple of months or set up a system restore in windows 7 as it's pretty easy. 99% of virus/malware problems are because of user behavior anyway. from past experience depending on what you are dealing with i would just reformat and start fresh.

from there get noscript adblockplus under firefox, stop downloading stuff or at worst run an antivirus like avira or something like malwarebytes on the file before you execute it.

You guys need to stop starring at porn 14 hours a day if you get that many viruses. Ive had a PC since 1998 and only had 3 viruses, 1 was random, 1 was movie 1 file, 1 was porn. Secondly yes set up a auto backup daily in system restore that way you can always backup t previous point and run malwarebytes once a month. This should keep your pc up to speed and virus free.

Tomato finds it funny that Potato is giving advice considering he couldn't fix his own computer.
