Reno, it may surprise you to learn (from me) that the Russian Jr team has been known to play possum early in tourneys and turn it on when it matters.

I have not looked at anything yet.

I do know the Americans will not be winning any medals this tournament.

I haven't seen the Russian team play. They're not showing many games here that don't involve US team. Possum? That sounds like too complicated a strategy for these young punks.

Reno, it's not the players, it's the coaches.

When tourney starts Russian coaches tell young Soviet players to take it easy and have some fun, then when the medal round begins the KGB agents show up in dressing room before game starts with names, addresses and photos of players families and tell them they better win or else.

I think Russian/Soviet players obsess less about games than North Americans.
Watching that 24/7 show doesn't make playing in the nhl look too appealing. So much drama, heartache and despair. The coaches are always pissed assholes.

Reno the hockey culture up here is unique thats for sure.

Perhaps you recall some of my past comments about Euro and Russian NHL'ers more interested in going home or relaxing rather than having to play tough playoff hockey for months at a time. I don't blame them personally, but as a bettor I want to bet on the guys who are obsessed with winning and will give up testicles and teeth to do so. Those players are often Canadian.

I wouldn't be scared of the 2.5 pucks here and would take the Russians.

Russian teams are just not good. Something's wrong with their spacing or chemistry they had little puck control. Very different from Soviet teams. Czechs probably should have won.
