Cami's cold-calling thread reminds me that I watched Glengarry Glen Ross recently. I had seen the classic opening scene a bunch of times before, but not the whole thing.

It was fokken painful to watch.

Its theatre origins are obvious in the repetitive dialogue and claustrophobic settings - it's like nothing exists outside these sales doods' immediate universe. The film could've/should've taken some liberties and introduced outside characters, maybe tweaked the machine-gun dialogue to make it sound more natural. I dunno. Lazy adaptation if you ask me.

There were still some solid moments, especially those involving Jack Lemmon's ruthless character, but the whole thing is just embarrassing and painful to watch.

Yes, movie had Barnabas Collins emerging in 1972 from 2 centuries of being trapped in a coffin! Movie ended with this song which came out in 1972! No doubt Cami was going all the way and beyond with Stevie this weekend!

Baldwin and Pacino steal the show in this.

I'm going to give it 3 out 5 stars in the traditional rating system! If you're back in that time of the late 60's to early 70's and slightly buzzed you give it 5 stars! If you're a young gun person, forget it, won't get it, won't get music, possibly give 0 stars!
 
Muddy might have said it best about Burton with his quirkiness which probably is what DS was! I looked it up and guy was born same year as myself! Tim might be playing to a small demographic crowd! Alice Cooper makes appearance and plays 2 great songs! What young kid likes Alice?
 
I watched Logan's Run on the weekend.

Is that a recognized reference? Dystopian sci-fi from ~1975?? Do people know Logan's Run today?

I don't know.

It was a blast from the past for me. Hadn't seen it for probably 30+ years.

Interesting experience. It had been so long since I had seen it, it was like watching it for the first time - but then there were a handful of scenes where I knew exactly what lines were coming up. We use to recite some of them in my early stoner days.

Hiding?? Yeeessss, hiding!!

Ehh, you had to be there. I remember having a serious lust for Jenny Agutter in that flic so it was interesting to see from that perspective - i.e. - would I look at her now and wonder what I was thinking, or would I congratulate myself for always having impeccable taste.

In short: the latter. She was a work of art.

Pretty dopey movie but most dystopian cautionary tales are. It was probably pretty cutting edge at the time. What it lost in bad acting from Michael York and the other guy and Farrah Fawcett as the airhead broad who can't act even a little bit - it made up for with Jenny Agutter looking so good.

I give it a 5.5 out of 10 and look forward to watching again in another 30 years.
