LCD vs LED - DISCUSS

I have both. Sony is a LCD and smaller 32" Samsung (killer deal at Costco last year $199) in my bedroom is a LED. Both have very nice pictures, but I was always thought that the LCD would last longer. Not sure why. Any thoughts?

I think the LCD are obsolete now. Not sure if you can buy one anymore. LED is what I bought a few months ago. No complaints. Best TV I ever had.

My understanding is that in terms of range of quality it goes plasma, lcd, led, HD plasma and ultra led.

LED tvs are LCD with LED lights for backlighting. So you are buying LCD LED tvs now..All depends on your preference and your budget between plasma and LED. I sell Samsung TVs all the time to high end clients. Just installed a 90" Sharp LED in a home theater. Plasma is great for movie watching but has to be in a darker setting due to glare. Sony has exclusive rights to content of 4k (2x 1080p) tvs for now so the only way to get 4k is through upscaling on any other devices. Samsung has OLED now, which is pretty impressive with a big price tag.
