So you know the faucet on the outside of the house you use to water your plants, and wash your car and shit like that?
Ours is hot water. what the fok? We were talking today about getting sprinklers, when we realized, hot water comes out of there.
There is another one on the side of the house, but nothing comes out of there. I'm guess I will have to have a maintenance man come and check the piping or some shit in the basement, I would, but it is completely nasty and spider infested down there.
Anyone have this problem?

I was thinking, what about running the house from the kitchen sink or turning off the hot water? Senco, Saulty, pucky, anyone?

Running it from the kitchen sink would be a major friggin hassle. You need to get the hot water line off of that. Go in the basement or crawl space or whatever and see if there is a shut off for the one that has hot water. If there is shut it off for now. Check to see if there is a shut off valve for the one that's not working. Turn it on if there is and see if it works when you go back outside. IF not then you need to shut down the hot water valve wherever it is and re-plumb the hot water one to the cold water pipe. That's very strange that you have an outdoor faucet tapped into your hot water line.

Re-plumbing is not difficult at all. Lots of videos on youtube to check out. There are also lots of solderless fittings (compression fittings) you can buy from home depot or any other type of hardware store, but personally I would go with the solder for peace of mind.

We rent, so redoing the plumbing might get me in trouble, lol. I was thinking, and researching, I know that sometimes the water will come out warm for a bit from sitting in hot pipes. so I thought maybe I would try turning off the hot water and see if that makes a difference, though I am fairly certain it's tapped into the hot line.

In our house you can shut off the supply to the outdoor faucets from the inside.

I've thought about wearing a bib because I'm such a sloppy eater and constantly having to change my shirt because I either dropped food on it, spilled on it or drooled; or someone spit at me. Usually I'm so drunk an entire change of wardrobe and shower are necessary.

Is it possible the landowner had a bad experience with pipes freezing in the winter and having to replace them so he decided to tap them into the hot water to prevent them from freezing in the winter?

I have no idea. Why on earth would you use it in the winter? I would think if you don't use it in the winter, it wouldn't need to be tapped into the hot water lines.

Water stays in the pipe after you turn off the bib. So if it's connected to hot water the pressure will keep hot water in the pipe even though you never turn on the bib in the winter.

Not true Saulty. I have 5 hot water lines and if they are not used the pipes do not remain hot or even warm. I've also had warm water pipes freeze in the winter when the temperature with the wind chill drops to -25 - -35.

It's different in Canada, "hot water" is defined as anything above freezing.
