Why is it that when we go to the Doctor we generally have no idea what they are talking about but accept their professional opinions as fact, YET when a scientist starts speaking out about the effects that climate change is having on all of us there are those (and not a small minority either) that simply dismiss these same professionals as being without a clue??

Are people really this selectively stoopid??

Anyway ty for listening and hit Ireland ML in six nations rugby cup in about 15 hours for +EV money...

While I would not argue that many people are very selectively stoopid - and some aren't selective at all . . .

I would have thought it was only a small minority that didn't accept climate change. Other than America - where there are a lot of bulbous airheads who have decided to approach it as a party lines issue - I would have figured the level of enlightenment on that topic within the human race as a whole was fairly high.

Maybe I am wrong about that. Certainly there is no doubt among the people around me, but that is a very small sample.

Where are you coming from with that? Are you looking at some stats?

Muddy, i made the mistake yesterday of listening to talk-back radio for the 1st time and the topic was climate change.

It was like an entire new world i wish i'd never came across.

Did some research on the broadcaster and turns out one of their major sponsors was the state's electricity company..

Dont these people realise that the broadcasters are pushed to say what the sponsors are paying them to say??

I suppose that frameworking more than a single thought is a little too challenging for some...

Muddy, what do you do in those times when faith in mankind is being tested?

I have such low expectations for mankind and such a high level of acceptance. My faith hovers around ankle level most of the time and it creates a mood which - although perhaps an illusion - more-or-less approximates contentment.

Seriously though, I would be curious to hear some stats about worldwide enlightenment on climate change. I kind of figured it was one of those things where most of the civilized world has it figured out and it is mainly just Americans lagging - but maybe I'm wrong.

My gripe is pretty minor today. It has to do with people digging up the street closest to my place. They just paved it a couple of months ago. Now they are building a new complex across the street from me and digging it all up. Don't these people plan ahead? It feels like work for no reason, and of course a pain for drivers. Can't we just pay people to stay home:facepalm: go welfare
