All good here. Just got internet and cell coverage back. Ft Myers Beach is destroyed as is Downtown Ft Myers. Went out to some houses today and the further north we went the worse the damage. Cars were abandoned in the middle of the street from people getting caught in the water and having to get out. One of the houses we are working on had water up to my waist that had receded by the time I was there. Roof we just finished on Wednesday was in perfect condition but trees were down everywhere. We are going to be busy for awhile but a lot of homes are not salvageable.

Got lucky compared to lots of neighbors as seen by across the street. Street was blocked one way for couple days from water. Just got power back Friday night. Wanted to watch Phils Friday afternoon game but bars in Venice had no internet lol. Mostly Comcast business subscribers and hear that they still have none. Very lucky we switched to Frontier and good to go when power came back on.

This pic is from above Gulf water side with bridge entering in view entering FMB. Been there numerous times and as you can everything along the beach is gone. Not many business left of pic but for at least couple miles to right of it plenty of restaurants and business that are GONE

We are talking about structures built mostly 50+ years ago that weren't concrete blocked. The one big building you see is a Margaritaville complex (concrete) that only was just started that didn't have any interior finished which was fortunate. People were saying it's going to look so new compared to the old look of the rest of the beach but now everything will look modern.

Here's a quiet pic I guess taken at night but if look at above pic it's the whole section in front of the closet yellow building by beach. Numerous restaurants there jammed with people all day long.

Here's a look further right and that tall building standing had an evaluator that took too MANY minutes to reach the top floor restaurant lol. Told probably be condemned.

Here's pricy Sanibel Island now only reachable by sea or air.

Reading that Sanabel island will never be the same. The cost of raising the homes 10 to 12 feet just won’t be covered fully by insurance. Lots of longtime residents with modest homes just can’t afford to rebuild up to present day codes.

Bummer. But like all barrier islands probably shouldn't have built there to begin with.
