:lmao: .. this looks like something my dad would send me... from week to week he changes his mind about what he will eat... completely based on some new article he reads about the foods

higher protein intake for middle aged men more deadly than smoking :lmao::lmao: :lmao: ... somewhere some idiot believes this
:yousodumb:

Yeah I dunno. I just remembered your post about the juicers needing more protein and thought of you when I saw the big tada on TV.

I don't have enough info to judge whether or not it makes sense. Seems the smoking thing has to be a bigggg prima facie stretch though.

the deal with juicing isnt so bad if its 3 days, but it accomplishes nothing but dropping a few lbs of water weight... 7 days and more is bad for your body as you arent taking in any protein and other essentials that are in real food and the lack of actual meals will fuck your metabolism all to hell... once you have lost the water weight, your body starts to burn fat AND muscle if there is no protein intake... the whole fad is so ridiculously incorrect, its comical... but, like is said, it might give people a sense of accomplishment and maybe they will stop eating so much shit and change their diet...it doesnt do shit as far as a "cleanse" though..at least not in such a short amount of time... if you want a true cleanse, go drink a gallon of Golytely and shit for a day ...

more and more I think Protein is over-rated in the fitness and bodybuilding world

at least it has been for me

I can remember growing up and reading that 1 gram of protein per kg (2.2) of body weight was recommended, but hardcore bodybuilders just kinda wanted to round that to 1 gram per pound of bodyweight

and hey why not just shoot for 300-400 grams just to be sure.

in college i'd drink a gallon of milk a day, plus 200-300 grams more protein in egg whites, tuna, chicken, red meat, shakes, ect

what a waste.

you see experienced lifting guys with bad genetics force feed themselves protein and calories for 5+ years and they never get bigger

doesn't seem worth it.....

maybe its just due to a slower overall metabolism and muscle memory

but without extra protein supplementation, drinking milk at all, eating meat more than 1-2 times a week, ect. I can regain 90% of my former strength levels or more in about 4-6 weeks of actually going to the gym 2-3 times per week

you can, maybe, because you have been on a nonstop bulk of eating a ton of food for while, fatass  ... you can regain a lot of strength and know what you are doing, most dont, but you wont get bigger without eating bigger...thats a fact

and obviously, it depends on length of layoff, but you will more than likely tear muscles and hurt yourself before you are able to put up 90% in 6 weeks of working 1 main muscle group a day... it also depends on how low your test levels have dropped... my test levels were a little low when i started back... getting old and having low test, sucks for weight training.

I don't know, I just wonder about these two questions when the topic comes up

how much protein per lb do people need to gain muscle?

how much protein per lb do people need that aren't concerned about muscle mass at all?

I think people over-estimate both

i tend to agree... ive read so many articles about 1g per lb. just for maintenance.... but i have to assume thats for athletic people who actually work on their bodies and they need the 1g per lb because they are working hard and burning fat and some muscle... around .5g per lb is what ive read for people who are couch potatoes to maintain...

people trying to get bigger are doing more than just eating more protein..they are eating more of everything... and although there is a lot of debate about how much protein the body can actually absorb in a time period, i will stick to getting bt 300-350 in each day while im in the 175lb range... i dont really try to force the protein, its just what ive become accustomed to eating :dunno:
