My Asian neighbours - (-26 with the windchill)

On Saturday, I was getting the boys ready for their rip out on the backyard rink (kids don't mind frigid temperatures it seems) when I noticed the Asian neighbours had put their wet clothes out on their clothes line.......... apparently to dry.

It was -26 with the windchill. I seriously don't get these people. I really don't. Their towells were ice solid. I actually took a picture of the clothes from my car when I was backing out of my driveway. You can see the dirt on their house. Fucking crazy bastards!!!

When wet towels freeze it will eventually thaw. When you thaw an ice cube it turns into a liquid. Remember it was -26 with the windchill. Those towells and other clothes that were out probably froze solid within 5 mins.

I doubt that would work in -20 temps.

There's no way wet clothes especially heavy towels would dry in -26 temperatures.

I know what you are saying. Look at the article Matty posted and some others. I still maintain this is what they are doing. Seems prima facially nuts, but I am not convinced yet that they are crazy. Need more examples. How did people dry their clothes in the winter before electricity?

They aren't *nearly* so wet after they've frozen. The clothes freeze but the cold air removes a great deal of the moisture from the clothes in the process. Kind of like freezer burn.

They are crazy. At least he is. He once let his lawn grow so long that he went out with hedge trimmers (hand held ones) and started cutting his lawn with them.

By hanging them close to the fireplace. That's how my grandparents did. They didn't have electricity.

It was a rhetorical question but good point. They probably hung them outside to get most of the moisture out and then hung by fireplace? Hell I dunno. I always use a dryer. Always.
