Costa Rica must stay focused against Paraguay

Ticos without Keylor Navas and Guaranis want to continue performance of the last Copa America a year ago.

The national team of Costa Rica arrives at the Copa America Centenario 2016 full of confidence, but for their debut today against Paraguay in the group A the key will be not to “go crazy” said yesterday Bryan Ruiz.

“It’s a game where you can’t go crazy from the start. In part because of the climate, which is very hot (96 degrees for game time), but also because it’s the first game and it’s very crucial to get all 3 points. We won’t go crazy, we won’t go out and attack desperately.” said the Sporting Lisboa player.

Ruiz reminded that the group which has, the USA and Colombia, is very difficult, all four of us can qualify, and Paraguay is a very complicated team. So even though we have lots of confidence, it is necessary to do the right things.”

Meanwhile the coach, Oscar Ramirez, commented that the start “is always the most difficult moment in a group phase of a short tournament” and the game against Paraguay will be “of maximum concentration”.

Paraguay is very competitive, they don’t do much mistakes, and takes advantages of the errors of their opponents. Bryan said it right, we can’t go crazy. It will be necessary lots of concentration and we will try to take control of the match.” said Ramirez.

For Ramirez no doubt how much they try to play down the enthusiasm, it’s a fact that they reach the tournament at good moment in the history of the national team, and the tico fans are expecting great results.

Ramirez is very sorry that they won’t be able to have Keylor Navas, their goal keeper and that of Real Madrid which just won the Champions League, due to a heels injury.
